Don ran his hand over his head as he followed Sheldon down the hall, listening to him go off about dirty cops. Don was pissed off too. Edderson killed Frankie for no reason and Don could still hear Edderson’s jaw dislocate after Truly had hit him.
"Hey, Hawkes?" interrupted Don, looking over at Sheldon. "I’ve got some paperwork to do, I’ll see you later?"
"Sure, Flack," said Sheldon, giving Don a wave and heading down a different corridor.
Don shook his head, heading down towards the precinct, pausing when he noticed someone was sitting at his desk. It looked like Truly, but Don couldn’t be sure. He hadn’t talked directly to Truly since they had arrested Edderson and, from what Stella had told him against his will, she had a doctor’s appointment and a long night at work. So...why did it look like she was sitting at his desk?
Don walked forward, trying to get whomever was sitting at his desk to turn around. Finally, they turned, and Don’s eyebrows shot up as Truly looked up at him. She was pale and her hands were shaking slightly.
"Hey, Don," said Truly quietly, standing up and leaning her lower back against his desk Her arms folded across her chest gently, her eyes averted from Don.
"Truly, what are you doing here?"
"I needed to talk to you," said Truly, still not looking at him. She shifted uncomfortably, swiping her wrist across her eye for a moment.
"Better be important," muttered Don, giving her grim smirk and leaning his forearms against the seat she’d gotten out of. "What’s up?"
"It’s hard," said Truly softly. "I...I know how much you don’t want to see me right now, I get that. You’re mad-"
"Get to the point, Truly."
"I’m trying!" whispered Truly hysterically, her voice catching a bit as tears formed along her eyelashes. "You have no idea, Flack, how hard I’m trying to tell you this."
"Just say it," said Don, looking at her in amusement. He had to admit that she was adorable when she was confused and vulnerable. It made her more human to him. Truly looked down at him with tears in her eyes, breathing heavily. Her arms dropped to her sides and she swallowed nervously.
"I’m pregnant, Flack."
Don titled his head to the side and stared at her, his mouth hanging open in shock.
She wasn’t so cute anymore....
